Anderson & Kreiger routinely provides counsel to private and public sector clients in connection with the development and permitting of commercial, residential, educational and governmental real estate development projects. Our litigators and transactional lawyers work together to help our clients formulate and negotiate the strategies, deals, documents and agreements that are necessary for real estate projects while aggressively pursuing and defending related permits and approvals. And when necessary, we protect our clients' project permits in court -- with one of the most successful and extensive land use litigation track records of any Massachusetts law firm.
Our expertise includes:
Shepherding large, mixed-use projects. We represent the developers in the permitting of one of the largest mixed use development projects in New England, with over 4 million square feet of office, retail, residential and hotel space. Our work includes coordination and litigation with local municipalities.
Enabling major infrastructure facilities. Anderson & Kreiger led the legal and engineering team that successfully obtained dozens of federal permits for several major coastal and infrastructure facilities in Puerto Rico, saving our client over $500 million.
Handling complex, multiple-jurisdiction permitting processes. Anderson & Kreiger coordinated the successful effort to obtain dozens of local, state and federal permits, including emission offset contracts, for a major, offshore LNG port.
Rezoning and permitting for biotechnology. We represented a municipality in both successfully rezoning a key commercial property and negotiating the permits and approvals with a life sciences firm to construct a $350 million office and research facility.
Siting and permitting telecommunications facilities. We have achieved the successful siting and permitting of hundreds of telecommunication facilities across New England, often in the face of local concern and opposition.
Sustainable development. Anderson & Kreiger brings special expertise to the development of environmentally sustainable projects, with lawyers who have held key sustainable development positions in city and state governments and non-governmental organizations. We have developed state-of-the-art strategies for addressing sustainability challenges, and we handle the full range of permitting processes and transactions needed to implement those strategies.
